We built this copy-paste picker as a public utility because it solves a problem we hit ourselves: every time the Forgemoji team needed a specific emoji in a Slack thread, we lost 30 seconds to the OS picker's search algorithm. macOS and Windows prioritize recently-used emoji, so the emoji you actually want (the one for a 1-off use) is buried on page 3 or 4. The free utility above trims that to a single click.
The categories on this page are ordered the way our editor team actually searches for them, not the way the Unicode spec orders them. We put Smileys first because roughly 62% of copy-paste sessions on this page in the past 90 days started in that category, with Hearts second at 14% and People at 9%. Symbols and Flags (the most spec-natural categories) sit near the bottom because copy-paste traffic to them is around 1% combined.
